Delaware County officials are planning to invest $45 million into the development of a new Juvenile Detention Center. The issue at hand is the systemic failure within the justice system to adequately address the needs of children and youth, resulting in their unjust treatment and lack of access to effective rehabilitative alternatives. Delaware County does not have any restorative justice programming for young people and lack diversion alternatives for youth who are impacted by the criminal legal system.
